European producers of ostrich leather will soon be able to take advantage of an additional source of supply with the granting of EU export approval to a new South African slaughterhouse.

Constructed by the Klien Karoo meat co-operative and located at  Swellendam, the new ostrich and lamb facility is described as having advanced facilities for the prevention of contagion and serves producers in the surrounding regions of Heidelberg, Swellendam, Bredasdorp, Riversdale, Worcester, Robertson, and Suurbraak.
