Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan has been re-elected as Chairman of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PLGMEA) for the year 2003-2004. The elected Executive Board are Mr. M. Saleem Ahmed, Ahmed Zulfiqar Hayat, Mr. Mohammad Danish Khan, Syed Shujaat Ali, Mr. Rizwan Ahmed Khan, Mr. Irfan Iqbal, Mr. Omer Yusuf, Mr. Sh. Imjaz Latif, Sh. Shahid Hussain, Mr. Arshad Mahr, Mr. Sohail Khawar Mir, Mr. Hasan Ali Bhatti, Mr. Naeem Anwar Qureshi, Mr. Agha Saiddain, Mr. Arshad Baig, Mr. Qaiser Mahmood Cheema & Mr. Abdul Jabbar.
The Executive Board praised Mr Khan for the leadership over the previous two year period, during which time the industry had been badly affected by global recession and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. And though leather garment exports in 2002/03 were down 28% on the year before, there were signs that the efforts of the association were beginning to pay off in the 3% rise seen in the August 2003 figure, the committee said.
