New lease of life for Switzerland`s Gerber
The troubled Gerberei Gerber & Co tannery operation of Langnau/Emmenthal, Switzerland has been saved from bankruptcy by two well known industry figures. Now known as Emme Leder GmbH, the business has been taken on board by Markus Meyer and Beat Fankhauser, the latter being the tannery’s existing production manager. For his part, Mr Meyer is described as bringing excellent industry contacts to the operation. Best known for its output of leather for footwear and leathergoods, as well as its vegetable tanned leathers, the operation will continue to operate from Langnau, where Mr Ueli Gerber continues as head of sales and special duties.
