More visitors to Argentine leathergoods fair

03/09/2003

The organisers of the 52nd edition of the Argentine leather goods fair, CECMA, held Buenos Aries, August 10-12, are claiming a bumper turnout for the event, with twice as many buyers being seen compared with the previous session.

In all, 5000 visitors passed through the turnstiles, with Italy, France, the USA, Australia, Spain, Belgium, Israel, Austria and Canada all being well represented and suggesting that the devaluation of the peso in early 2002 could now be starting to show positive results.

The design and variety of the products on show and interpretation of international fashion trends by their manufacturers attracted particular praise, as did the fashion shows that were held twice daily.  Around 100 leather goods exhibitors were present, together with twelve top jewellery manufacturers.

Organised by the Argentine Chamber of Leather Goods Manufacturers, CEMCA is held twice a year with the August show previewing the following year’s spring/summer collections and the February show previewing the following winter.
