Hainang export zone proves popular

22/08/2003

Following the completion of the first phase of the Hainang export goods processing zone, construction has begun on the second section of the complex.

The first phase has been rated as China’s top modern standard leather goods production zone. It covers 100,000 square metres and cost Y65 million ($7.9 million). The second segment covers 200,000 square metres and cost Y150 million ($18.1 million).

The zone is extremely popular with local companies and in February this year all the workshops in the first phase had already been booked up. 80% of the workshops in the second phase were reserved on the first day that foundations were laid.

Leather garments, leather sofas, bags and fur goods are all produced at the complex. It is predicted that in the future the site will become a complete supply chain of leather goods.
