Skillfast-UK unveils new footwear and leather NVQs
The sector skills council for the
Awarded by City and Guilds following guidance from footwear and leather manufacturers and trade associations, the new qualifications will provide the basis for a coherent training and development programme in the footwear and leather sector.
Available at levels 1 to 3, the NVQs can be used as stand-alone qualifications, as part of the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme or as the basis for in-house training programmes. They are a formal recognition of an individual’s skills within the workplace and are accepted throughout the
In order to effectively represent the skills and training needs of the sector, Skillfast-UK enlisted the help of employers such as Walsh Sports, Pittards and R Griggs and Co. The British Footwear Association and the British Leather Corporation also provided advice.
