Camtex finds sole partner with Jomo
The footwear lining specialist Camtex has landed a major contract to supply the German footwear insoles producer, Jomo. The contract sees the Cumbria UK-based company supplying its Cambrelle Conduct footwear lining for use with electrically conductive Jomo insoles.
Incorporating a special fibre, Cambrelle Conduct is designed to minimise electrostatic build-up, thereby avoiding the risk of spark ignition and reducing the risk of electric shock.
Camtex states that in tests undertaken by SATRA, the lining was found to have an average electrical resistance of below 10 k ohms, making it fully compatible with safety boots compliant with European Standard EN344-1 for conductive footwear. This states that all components other than the sole unit should be as conductive as possible. It also stipulates that the electrical resistance of the final shoe should not exceed 100 k ohms. In addition to these special properties, Cambrelle Conduct is said to retain all the abrasion resistance and wicking properties of original Cambrelle, making the lining compatible with all types of safety boot.
The Jomo contract co-incides with Camtex’s attainment of ISO 9001; 2000 in relation to the company’s design and product development capabilities. The certification follows an audit carried out by the British Standards Institute and brings the design and development aspects of Camtex’s operations into line with its manufacturing activities, which were awarded the certificate in 1998.
