The European licensee for the US brand Aerosoles has denied that is in the running to buy ailing French shoe maker Chaussures Labelle.
In a statement, Portugal-based company Investvar Comercial SGPS said that contrary to reports, neither it or the US brand-owner Aerogroup International were interested in buying the Normandy-based shoemaker. A spokesperson for Investvar Comercial said a possible reason for the reports was the involvement of fellow Investvar group company, ABD SGPS, in a consortium of Portuguese manufacturers that are currently negotiating to buy Labelle. ABD SGPS has 16% stake in the consortium that also includes Kyaia, Nova Aurora, Joia, L. Costa Lda, Domingos Neto and Gerard Guy.
