Prêt à Porter Paris to feature two brand-new areas

28/07/2003

The organisers of Prêt à Porter Paris to be held September 5-8 2003, have revealed that the show will unveil trends for spring summer 2004 and include two new sectors dedicated to “showcasing tomorrow’s big fashion ideas today.”

The new ‘Jardin Secret’ village will bring together fifty fashion designers, including Moloko, Gaëlle Barré, Des petits hauts by Eroe and Elizabeth de Senneville Sport. The area will feature catwalk shows twice a day, introducing “total silhouettes” models.

The brand new ‘Pick’n’Mix’ area will reflect the spirit of the music-and-media generation and bring together forty designers, from Save the Queen to Xuly Bët, and Friis to Fenomenal-U-Bahn. The section will express a new vision of urban wear where clothes are mismatched, customised and sampled.

‘Atmosphère’ will present up-and-coming designers who dictate today’s trends, including Etoile d’Isabel Marant and Dice by Dice, as well as essential designers, such as Isabelle Ballu and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. Building on the success of the last show, ‘…By Casabo’ for women and ‘Casabo Homme’ will present a range of styles and influences which reflect diverse tastes and trends.

This year’s ‘Trends Forum’ will focus on three main fashion attitudes: ‘Cadence’ - elegant active urban sportswear, blending simplicity and ultramodern styling with enduringly appealing warm earth tones; ‘Romance’ – candy colours, blending hippy chic and vintage for a romantic femininity  that is all about flowing lines, lace, embroidery and lingerie; and ‘Trans-Innocence’ – contrasts between dazzling and washed out colours, micro and maxi proportions and expertly blended lines, styles and effects for a supremely studied chaos.

Prêt à Porter Paris forecasts that in summer 2004 it will be essential to mix prints and fabrics and layer and contrast between micro and maxi proportions. Sport, military lines and workwear, and also body-displaying transparent minis and figure-hugging lingerie styles will be must haves. Pink will be the season’s signature colour and graphic designs sporting motifs, cartoons and graffiti will be essential. Wall-to-wall flowers will encapsulate the freshness of spring.

The show will be held at Porte de Versailles in Paris.
