New arrivals swell ranks of rapid BSE tests

The Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) of the European Commission have given their approval to commercialisation of two new rapid BSE tests, bringing the total available in Europe to five.
The two new arrivals are Prionics Check LIA and InPro CDI-5. In common with existing procedures, they are provisionally approved to detect TSE in sheep and goats. In the EU, all healthy cattle continue to be slaughtered at 30 months and fallen stock at 24 months.
