Don Munro, chairman and CEO of Munro & Co., Hot Springs, Arizona, has been elected chairman of the American Apparel and Footwear Association at the organisation’s annual meeting held in San Francisco, CO in June.  Munro & Co. operates five factories in the U.S., but does have some specialised footwear made overseas. The company produces about 80% of its footwear in the U.S.

As chairman of AAFA Munro said he will be working to give small and privately owned companies more attention within the association.  AAFA has called for total elimination of all tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers worldwide.

He noted that there was still some differences within AAFA as many members are sourcing overseas, and some members are fighting to keep production in the U.S.

The Footwear Industries of America division of AAFA sponsors Global Sourcing held twice annually within the Shoe Show organizes by the World Shoe Association and held in Las Vegas.
