UK’s SATRA announces record income

26/06/2003

SATRA's annual income has passed £7 million for the first time, delegates heard at the Kettering-based UK technology centre's annual meeting on June 17th.

This represents an increase of 12% over last year, explained Chief Executive Dr Ron Whittaker. He added: "This is remarkable, considering the global change within the consumer product industries we serve.

The surplus on revenue in 2003 of more than £500,000 is timely as the technology centre is investing heavily in new facilities and a £1.5m, 26,000 sq. ft. extension is under construction at SATRA's Wyndham Way site in Kettering.

It will be the largest investment in new facilities yet made by the technology centre, the company says. A new state-of-the-art chemical analytical facility should come on stream later this year. It will be capable of detecting most restricted substances in consumer products identified in recent legislation.

In addition, a new and expanded 5,000 sq ft furniture and bedding test laboratory will be opened in January 2004. Another development involves the installation of a specialist environmental technologies laboratory to evaluate Ultra-Violet, ageing, corrosion and ozone deterioration in consumer products.
