Italian shoemakers appoint new president
Rossano Soldini has been named as the new president of the Italian shoemakers’ federation, ANCI. Replacing Antonio Brotoni (see leatherbiz.com story, 20.06.03), Mr Soldini was elected to the post at the annual general meeting of the federation on June 12.
The owner and CEO of Fratelli Soldini S.p.A. in Capolona, 58 year-old Mr Soldoni is president of Arezzo regional industrial chamber and his factory best known for its output of footwear on behalf such well-known brands as Stone Haven, Antica Cuorieria, Ecogreen, though it also produces military and work shoes.
In a separate announcement, ANCI has reported a sharp decline in its members’ export business in 2002. In the twelve months to the end of November, exports were 8.4% down by volume to 303.1 million pairs and -5.7% by value, to Eur6.38 billion.
