William A. Rossi
Rossi began his long writing career when he was in the Navy during World War II, and wrote about his adventures. Later he became editor of Leather and Shoes and then editor of the Boot and Shoe Recorder. A number of his books were published in several languages. One of his most popular was “The Sex Life of the Foot and Shoe” which has had several printings. After he left the Boot and Shoe Recorder he wrote thousands of articles for magazines around the world, and until shortly before his death he was writing a column for Footwear News.
In the week before his death he completed his eighth book, which was not about the industry. He was a noted speaker and travelled to many nations to address industry organisations. He had a great mind, and was able to cite all kinds of facts and figures on a range of topics when asked.
Early in his career he was able to study for and obtain a Doctorate in Podiatry. Rossi is survived by his wife and three sons, a daughter, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
