Horween Leather Company of Chicago, Illinois, has entered into an agreement with Canada’s largest tannery, Dominion Tanners, under which it will be licensed to produce Dominion’s full line of shoe, boot and specialty leathers. In a statement, the company said the transfer of technology took place this spring and that it has now begun to run trials of Dominion leathers.
The move follows the decision taken by Dominion to close its own tanning facilities and concentrate on finishing for the automotive market. (See leatherbiz.com story ‘Canadian tannery to close’ 16.5.03).
