New Zealand’s hides, skins and leather exports down 19.3% in April
According to figures released by Statistics New Zealand, the country’s raw hides, skins and leather exports declined 19.3% to NZ$61 million ($35.6 million) during April 2003, compared with the year earlier period.
The country recorded a trade surplus of NZ$16 million ($9.3 million) in April though the value of merchandise exports declined 9.5%, year-on-year. Imports totalled NZ$2.5 billion ($1.5 billion).
For the twelve months to April, 2003, the trade deficit totalled NZ$1.9 billion ($1.1 billion), compared with a surplus of NZ$520 million ($303.4 million) the previous year.
