18/06/2003

The UK-based technology centre, SATRA, has appointed Steve Rose as business manager for its materials and product testing programmes.

Mr Rose will be responsible for the organisation and development of the centre’s main testing laboratories, which carry out a range of assessments on footwear, leathergoods, upholstery, clothing and accessories.

Mr Rose joined SATRA in 1978 with a degree in polymer science which he gained at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK and initially worked as part of a research team evaluating footwear uppers.

He later became a team leader responsible for a wider range of SATRA test services and has overseen the ongoing development of the centre’s test procedures for several years.

The appointment coincides with the centre’s diversification into new consumer product areas. He said: “This is an exciting time. The recent addition of homeware and automotive testing to our portfolio represents a stimulating challenge.”
