2005 deadline for Polish-Chinese import duty
The Polish Industry Ministry has announced that it will remove anti-dumping tax levied on Chinese footwear imports in 2005. The removal of the duty will reduce total taxes from Eur0.9 to Eur2.4 per pair to between Eur0.36 to Eur0.96.
The Polish government introduced the tax in 1999, as a short term measure to revive the country’s domestic footwear industry and planned to remove the levy at the end of that year. However it later extended the deadline to January 2002, when the levy was increased.
