Buenos Aires show brings Argentine garment supply partners closer together

13/06/2003

The next ‘Emitex’ garment industry show will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 18 - 20 June 2003, bringing together garment designers, manufacturers, component and fabric suppliers, training specialists and design software experts.

Most Argentinean suppliers to the garment industry will participate alongside their foreign counterparts. The fair is open only to members of the textile industry, garment manufacturers and allied trades including leather garments and leathergoods.

Held December 2002, the first edition of the show attracted almost one hundred exhibitors and was visited by some 7,000 garment, leather goods and shoe manufacturers. It was judged an all-round success and because it was promoted to senior personnel, at least 50% of visitors were identified as occupying senior positions in their companies.

It is worth mentioning that due to the present situation of Argentina's economy, locally made products are extremely competitive in US dollars and this is why a strong turnout by foreign buyers is expected at the show. Emitex is seen by the Argentine textile sector  as gradually consolidating itself as an important professional event..

The show programme includes lectures, seminars and workshops on fashion trends, technological updating and international trade. As in December, young designers will be given the opportunity to showcase  their creativity at the show.  The event will take place at the Centro Costa Salguero, just a few minutes from the centre of the city from 14:00 to 21:00. The winter 2003 edition of the show will take place November 12-14 at the same venue.
