Raid uncovers fake footwear in China

06/06/2003

Nearly 50,000 pairs of fake branded footwear was discovered recently in the warehouses of a company based in the Huangpu district of Guangzhou City, China.

The counterfeit footwear is estimated to be worth around Y10 million ($1.2 million) and consists primarily of Nike, Puma and adidas knock-offs.

Officials say that even though underground factories are known to be in operation in the area, such a large seizure of fake goods is rare.
