Tests clear Canadian herd of Mad Cow Disease

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has sounded the all clear on the 192 cows from the original herd linked to Canada’s first case of Mad Cow Disease in a decade.

 

A total of seventeen herds are currently under quarantine in the country. Twelve are in Alberta, three are in British Columbia and two in Saskatchewan.

 

Since the announcement of the outbreak a week ago, the US, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia and Barbados have all temporarily banned Canadian beef imports. For past stories see leatherbiz.com, Canada quarantines herds due to BSE’ - 23.05.03.
