Bids invited for Bangladesh leather factories

The Bangladesh Shilpa Bank is inviting investors to bid for the land, buildings and machinery of the Dahka-based leather processing and finishing factory, Milon Tanneries Limited.

 

The Hazaribagh factory, which has the capacity to produce 278,852 square metres of leather per year, ceased production with debts of Tk39.16 million ($679,743).

 

The bank is also inviting offers for the assets of Rupgang, Narayangang-based factory, Oleander Leathers Limited, which has debts of Tk8.05 million ($139,782).

 

Shilpa Bank says bidding for both factories is being carried out on a ‘as is where is basis.’

 

The closing date for offers is June 1, 2003.
