Mixed showing for Pakistan leather exports
Latest figures from the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics show that between July 2002 and April 2003, the country exported finished leather worth $189 million, a 0.23% decrease on the year before. Exports of finished leather items including garments, gloves and accessories were down 2.7% to $309.5 million while exports of footwear were up by an appreciable 55.6% to $65.7 million.
During April 2003, finished leather exports were up 9.5% to $18.8 million on the year previous while exports of finished leather items rose 7.1% to $21.2 million. However, footwear exports were down 25.5% to $4.4 million.
