Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been criticised by the president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for allowing Karachi airport to act as a hub for flights coming from SARS infected countries.
Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo says the CAA should follow in the example of Dubai, which has banned the arrival of transit flights from contaminated countries, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
Maggo states that Karachi airport has no quarantine facilities or precautionary measures to detect the virus. He believes the CAA is putting lives at risk and says all flights from SARS-infected regions should be cancelled.
