Russian leather production declines

Russia’s leather and textile production declined 1.2% between January and March, 2003. The country’s total manufacturing output, however, increased 6%, compared with 2.6% for the same period in 2002.

 

In March 2003, Russia’s industrial production increased 6.7%, compared with the year earlier period. This figure is 11.4% on a month-on-month basis, 63.2% compared with September 1998 and 32.9% compared with March 1997.

 

Russia’s industrial production is expected to increase by more than 3% during 2003, compared with 3.7% in 2002.
