The organisers of the Micam Shoevent have said the fair attracted 31,523 visitors and 1,254 exhibitors, despite it being the first trade show to be held after the war broke out in Iraq.

Organisers Fiera Milano said the show which was held March 20-23, 2003 in Milan, Italy attracted 1.7% more attendees and a 5.8% increase in international visitors compared with the year before. Despite Japanese attendance falling slightly by 1.3%, Japan was the most strongly represented, while Chinese and Hong Kong visitors increased 23.7%, the show’s organisers said.

Fiera Milano said he exhibition unveiled footwear collections for autumn/winter 2003/2004, providing visitors with a vital opportunity to take stock of the market situation and industry trends.

During the inaugural gala evening held March 20, Micam presented the XV Micam Award for the most outstanding Italian or international buyer or retailer to Renzo Bruschi of Bruno Bruschi SpA, Italy and Agalarov Aras, the chairman of Crocus International, Russia.
