South Africa’s largest producer of leather hides and skins, Kolosus Holdings, has sold its 50% stake in the De Aar abattoir to GWK Limited.

GWK acquired the abattoir including R2.7 million ($342,136) in debt for R4.5 million ($570,138). The price had originally been negotiated for the sale of the stake to Kalahari Kid in February. However that deal fell through.

Kolosus company secretary John Nell said the group sold the abattoir as it was not considered to be part of the firm’s core business.
