The German government has allocated Eur5 million ($5.39 million) to support agricultural and private enterprises in the Ukraine countryside, the German deputy state secretary Roman Shmidt has said.

The funds are available through the German-Ukrainian Fund (GUF) and its partner banks, PryvatBank, Aval, Microfinancial Bank, Nadra and Forum. The loan is payable over 40 years at a rate of 0.75% annual interest, Shmidt said.

Regional government minister Leo Kroiz said the Government also had plans to lend up to Eur5 million to Ukrainian village credit unions. The funds will be available for one month to profitable agricultural enterprises that have been in operation for no less than 5 months.
