The 95^th GDS International Shoe Fair, held March 13-16, 2003 in Düsseldorf, Germany attracted 40,000 visitors and 1,535 exhibitors from 44 different countries.

The event drew in 2,000 fewer visitors than in 2002, yet its organisers Messe Düsseldorf say the emphasis of the show was on the quality of visitors rather than the quantity. GDS’s international status was enforced by the fact that over two in three visitors were from outside Germany, Messe Düsseldorf says, adding that 30% more contracts in sales planning and services were signed at the show.

The pre-order quota was 20%, compared with 25% in 2002, while repeat orders were 22%, compared with 15% in 2002. The timing of the event was rated as ideal by over 80% of the visitors and exhibitors.

The 96^th GDS will take place September 18-21, 2003 in Düsseldorf.
