Russian tannery seeks $2 million investor

26/03/2003

The Krasnoyarsk regional government of Russia has said it is looking for potential investors in the Kansk tannery, which closed last year.

In making the announcement, local official Valdimir Gorlov said $2 million was required to put the tannery back on its feet. He said the tannery had excellent potential and the only reason it closed was mismanagement on the part of its previous owner.

Gorlov pointed out that the tannery operated successfully for many years, adding that the facility’s buildings were still in good shape and all essential equipment was still in-situ.
