Russia’s imports and exports increase in 2002

According to Russia’s Ministry of Economy, the country’s imports rose 29.8% to $3.52 billion and exports increased 5.7% to $8.41 billion in 2002.

Russia’s main imports included leather goods, footwear, textiles, clothes, knitted garments, household apparatus and electronics.

During the year, China was Russia’s ninth biggest trading partner. Trade between the countries increased 11.8% to $11.93 billion. Consumer goods and food accounted for 80% of Russia's Chinese imports, of which about 65% were mass consumption goods.
