Russian meat prices will rise significantly if the rift between the meat industry and the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development over quotas is not resolved soon, the Meat Union of Russian (MUR) has warned. 

The union said the hike would be in the region of 10-15 percent and has petitioned President Vladimir Putin for help. Acting under the Kremlin's instructions, top ministry officials recently meet with union executives but the outcome was far from positive. The MUR has 70 members and controls around 60-70 percent of the market.
