20/02/2003

The importance of ‘traditional’ exports such as leather to the continued expansion of developing economies has been highlighted in a new report from the Bolivian Foreign Trade Institute (IBCE).

Citing the 21% increase seen in the country’s exports of leather and leather goods to $11 million in 2002, IBCE president Ing. Oswaldo Barriga Cuéllar emphasised the importance of such exports to the national economy.  He also attributed them to the 5% increase seen in jobs during the year.  Bolivia’s total exports were up 4% during the year to $572.00 million.
