Specialist London-based chain, Instep, has acquired seventeen outlets from Start-Rite Shoes, making it the largest dedicated children’s and teenage shoe retailer in the UK.

Start Rite said the sale of the bulk of its retail business was a strategic decision to focus on the brand itself. The transfer package includes the flagship department in Harrods, but does not include twelve Start-Rite-owned stores and concessions.

Instep’s chief, Micheal Rakison, said he plans to expand beyond the acquisition and has made no redundancies as all staff have switched to Start-Rite.
