Oakley produces assault boot for elite Special Forces

12/02/2003

Oakley Inc, the performance footwear and apparel manufacturer has announced it is to produce a boot specifically for the US military.

The Elite Special Forces Standard-Issue Assault Boot has been developed as part of Oakley’s ongoing research and development programme with the US Elite Special Forces and will also be available for civilian use.

The boot has a lightweight athletic design and is braced with an over-the-ankle boot shaft. Further protection is afforded by abrasion resistant panels on soft top-grain leather. Comprehensive moisture control is said to maximise comfort while advanced polymer EVA and premium urethane offer resilient shock absorption.

The consumer version of the boot will be available late in the second quarter of 2003, with a suggested retail price of US$225.
