Russian-German trade declines slightly in 2002

According to statistics released by the Russian trade mission in Germany, the total trade turnover between the two countries fell by 0.4% to Eur24.7 billion (US$26.4 billion) in 2002.

 

The statistics were prepared for President’s Putin’s official visit to Germany on February 9 and show that Russia’s total trade surplus is worth Eur2.5 billion (US$2.7 billion) per year.

 

Germany is Russia’s main trading partner and accounts for about 14% of its entire foreign trade turnover. In 2002, Germany supplied over 50% of Russia’s clothing and footwear, 25% of its machinery, industrial equipment and advanced technologies, 15% of its medicines and 14% of its foodstuffs.
