MK Química do Brasil, of Portão (RS) has announced its certification to ISO 9001:2000. It already had the 1994 version of ISO 9001 certification, but went through an audit to confirm the consistency of its Quality Management System.

Twenty new requirements have now been added to those in the previous ISO 9001 version with continuous improvement, customer satisfaction evaluation and permanent adoption of performance indicators among others. With its quality-geared philosophy, in the 1990’s MK adhered to the Gaucho Quality and Productivity Program (PGQP) and was awarded the Bronze Trophy in 1998 and 1999, the Silver Trophy in 2000 and the Gold Trophy in 2001.

The company invests 12% of its gross income in R&D projects that generate an average of 20 new products per year. According to Milton Kogler, MK’s president and director, the company’s mission is to develop products that are efficient, ecological and economical.
