Uncertain start for new-look Russian footwear chain

03/02/2003

The management of the Moscow-based footwear retailer ‘K-C’ has advised that all ten of the group’s stores will be rebranded so as to reflect its new market positioning.

Established in 1998, the chain previously specialised in the discount sale of middle market lines from Germany - a policy which led to accusations of dumping from the company’s competitors.  Though the positioning of the new-look chain is still unclear, observers say some suppliers are displaying a reluctance to deal with the company because of previous delays with payments.
