Meanwhile, people’s deputy O. Shevenko has come out in favour of a proposed $1.5 billion loan from the World Bank for the modernisation of country’s agricultural sector. The receipt of the loan on agreed terms would have tremendous advantages for the sector, Shevenko said last week: "Our farmers have never before had monies of this order at their disposal at such low interest rates. By allowing them to take on board the latest technologies, it will enhance their competitiveness in the international marketplace,” the minister said.
