Kanpur’s saddlery industry is predicted to double its exports over the next two to three years to Rs400 crore (Rs400 million).The Indian Institute of Technology’s design department have designed a new saddletree component from polyurethane rather than wood, which has revolutionalised the industry. Kanpur’s saddle makers have also benefited from the establishment of an institute for training and research to supply the industry with trained workers and managers.
