German footwear sales slump in November

Retail sales of footwear in Germany hit new lows in November 2002. Although the October figures hinted at some improvement, November saw a 20% decline during what should have been one of the best months of the year.

 

In some regions such as Brandenburg, sales were down by as much as 50% on the year before.  Unsurprisingly, 2002 is expected to be one of the worst ever for German footwear sales.
