LVMH appoints new head of leather and fashion

The French fashion house,LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA), has replaced the head of its leather and fashion division.

The new man is senior LVMH executive Yves Carcelle, replacing Marcello Bottoli in the role. Carcelle says his immediate priority will be to develop the Louis Vuitton luggage brand in emerging markets and continue its diversification into new product areas: a range of Louis Vuitton watches was launched in September.

Leather and fashion sales contribute $800 million per year to LVMH group income. During 2002, the company opened its huge Louis Vuitton outlet in Tokyo while others are in the pipeline for South Korea, Mainland China and Thailand.
