Austrian shoe maker seeks Uzbek toe hold

Austrian firm Vega Marketing GmbH has announced it will finance a shoe holding company in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The new company will comprise three shoe factories in the capital. In a press conference Peter Schmidt, president of the company, said he hoped the first facility - an Uzbek/Austrian JV ‘Delta Invest’ factory –would eventually produce 200,000 pairs of fashionable ladies shoes per year.
