Dhaka footwear unit goes under the hammer
Dhaka Group of Bangladesh has announced the sale of mortgaged assets of Comfort Footwear Ltd, its export-orientated shoe-manufacturing unit, in order to repay a loan taken by the company. The factory has a production capacity of 300,000 pairs of shoes per annum.
In a public notice, the company said: "The mortgaged land, building and machinery of M/s Comfort Footwear Limited, Baipal, Savar, Dhaka will be sold by the Bangladesh Shilpa Bank (BSB) on cash payment for realising BSB's arrears loan and dues of Tk6272.7 million ($110 million) as on 30/06/2000, plus additional interest and other expenses until realisation of this amount from the company."
The closing date for bids is November 25.
