Technology tie up for Italian tanning machinery specialists

11/11/2002

In a bid to consolidate their respective market positions, the Italian tanning machinery manufacturers Flamar-Tomboni and Rizzi have entered into an agreement under which they will pool certain of their technical and business resources.

In a refreshing display of candour, both businesses admit to the decision being driven by the ‘ongoing structural crisis’ affecting the Italian capital equipment manufacturing sector, though they say their customers will also benefit through improved levels of service and a wider choice of equipment.

As part of the agreement, the two businesses will make use of each other’s machines when planning customer systems - an arrangement made feasible by the minimal overlap that exists between their product ranges. The agreement also gives the green light to the sharing of technical and business know- how – an activity that is expected to result in further economies of scale.
