BASF to introduce Elisa at Tanning Tech
The German chemicals giant BASF has said it will unveil two major new product lines at next week’s Tanning Tech (Stand B20, Hall 34).
The first is ‘Elisa’ – a new retannage compatible with both wet white and wet blue. The name is an acronym of the main performance characteristics cited for the product, as follows;
E – elegant, natural
L – logistics and processing are simplified
I – improved article properties
S – superior fastness
A – advantages from the environmental and economic point of view
Other claimed advantages include enhanced levels of softness, improved tensile strength and a harder wearing end product. A formaldehyde-free formulation, Elisa can be dyed to brilliant, very fast shades and is said to simplify the tanning process by reducing the number of additional products required. In addition, Elisa is said to offer high levels of environmental compatibility while reducing effluent treatment and energy costs.
BASF’s second product unveiling at Tanning Tech will be Luganil Black AS Liquid – an anionic dye suited to leather that is required to satisfy high standards of fastness, such as automotive leather and leather used on sports footwear. Luganil Black AS is also said to be environmentally friendly, resistant to migration and to exhibit high levels of lightfastness.
