The Shewan Tannery, based in Kanpur, India, is celebrating its centenary this year. Founded by W. B. Shewan, who came from England, the tannery was built in Jajmau, the centre of the local leathergoods industry.

Today owned by Constructions & Industries Ltd, it produces about 250 tons of buff bark sole leather, 150 tons of harness leather and six million square feet of chrome tanned leather per year.
