Irish slaughter figures fall in August
The Central Statistics Office of Ireland has revealed that the number of cattle slaughtered in August 2002 was 13.4% lower than in August 2001. Sheep slaughtered decreased by 14.5% and pigs slaughtered fell by 8.0%.
In the January to August 2002 period, sheep slaughtered fell 19.6% from the corresponding figure in 2001. Cattle slaughtered fell by 6.7% and pigs slaughtered went down by 3.0%.
