Livestock health improves
According to Ukrainian State Department of Veterinary the state of the country’s livestock has improved this year when compared to 2001.
According to statistics revealed this month, the impact of contagious diseases has fallen. For instance, leucosis dropped from 4,469 cases last year to 1,604 in the current year. Livestock tuberculosis fell to 69 cases compared to 93, rabies was 170 compared to 822 last year. In the case of salmonellosis, just 1 case was noted this year compared to 51 in 2000 and 26 in 2001.The statement says that proper work of sanitary and veterinarian services are the main reason for the improvement, which gives good prognosis for increasing productivity of livestock in the country.
The department attributes the improvement to improved animal welfare practises and veterinarian services.
