The Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is putting the finishing touches to a new agricultural subsidy system that is said to be more consistent with its EU counterparts. Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Imre Németh has said the government will almost certainly not restart the farm loan scheme this year, having suspended it in early summer because farmers applied for more than the state can guarantee.
